Title

The Girl Guide movement and The Girls’ Sea Scouts in Emsworth

Description

Mrs Jacobs was the first person to be awarded the Queen’s gold medal for passing all the tasks required to obtain a full set of badges for a Girl Guide. Mrs Pinhorn, who ultimately became a Superintendent of the local girl guides group, was also leader of the Emsworth Girls’ Sea Scouts for many years and took her crew on evening sorties around Emsworth harbour. Both Deanna and Myra also took local girls on many camping holidays for several years, and there are photographs of these annual camps in the Research Room.
