Description

Blue bottle 170 mm x 80 mm with a neck for the stopper. The label carries the words SYR PAPAV - essentially poppy syrup made from the fresh petals of the white or opium poppy. This was used as an expectorant for treating coughs.

Y G Co is inscribed in the glass on the base and represents the York Glass Company which produced medicinal bottles in a variety of colours for a hundred years between 1830 and 1930.
